What is MESH signal forwarding?

What is MESH signal forwarding?

With MESH signal forwarding, the detectors pass radio signals to each other. This means not every smoke detector has to be directly connected to the gateway or all other devices – the signal can be forwarded via other detectors.

For smoke detectors, this has several advantages:

  • Greater range: Even distant rooms or other floors can be reliably covered.
  • More stable connection: Walls, ceilings, and long distances are bridged more easily.
  • Higher safety: If one detector triggers an alarm, the signal is passed through the network so all detectors in the home sound simultaneously.
  • Flexible installation: Devices can be installed where they make the most sense for safety – not just where the radio signal is strongest.

This ensures that the MESH system reliably and quickly transmits alarms throughout the entire home.

Are ALPENLUFT smoke detectors quality tested?

When it comes to fire protection, there can be no compromises. ALPENLUFT smoke detectors are rigorously tested and comply with the EN14604 EU standard.

How many detectors do I need?

You should equip all bedrooms and hallways first.
Each bedroom should have at least one detector.

Install detectors in stairways and on every floor.

If an area exceeds 60 m², multiple detectors are recommended.

What happens after 10 years?

After the 10-year battery lifespan, the smoke detector must be completely replaced according to regulations.

How do I install a smoke detector?

Every smoke detector should be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. In general, smoke detectors should be mounted on the ceiling, preferably in the center of the room.

For interconnected smoke detectors, it must also be ensured that all devices are properly connected to each other.

Please also refer to the user manuals for the SMART model, the smoke & heat model, and the Standalone model.

How do I turn the SMART detector on and off?

TURN ON:
Press and hold the blue safety switch on the back and press the test button once to turn the device on. If the mounting plate is already snapped into the detector, the safety switch is automatically held down. Otherwise, you must press the button manually.

The green LED will flash for 5 seconds.

If the test button is not pressed within 10 minutes, the detector will turn on automatically and enter normal operating mode.


TURN OFF:
Press the blue safety switch twice in quick succession and then press the test button once briefly.

The green LED on the detector will flash. Press the test button again and hold it down until the LED goes out.

The detector is now turned off. You can verify this by pressing the test button again; the device will no longer emit a signal tone.
